Birth Muslin



Alfie ( 84 x 79 cms) is a baby wrap of cotton muslin and merino wool.

"Save Me" (163 x 63cms) is a wrap or large scarf of felted merino wool and mohair on hand dyed tissue silk, with hand stitching. It refers to the tenacity of voices which have spoken up over many years for the preservation of the relatively pristine environment of the Shoalhaven Catchment Area.

"Budawang Sunset" (129 x 71cms) is a wrap of felted merino wool on hand dyed tissue silk.

These pieces will be on display at the Serrated Tussock cafe, Wallace Street, Braidwood from Friday, 1st April until Sunday, 3rd April, 2011.

Striped and plaited.



Stripes of colour, hand felted on black tissue silk and ecru cotton muslin, team with plaited merino wool into scarves to ward off cool autumn breezes.

Royal Canberra Show, 2011.



Hand felted item for the body - First Prize, the colours of Volutidae, a shell of the species, Volutoconus Bednalli, are captured in this hand felted silk chiffon and merino wool wrap.



Australiana - Any article of Felting depicting our Australian landscape - Third Prize, feather hat inspired by the poem "Bellbirds" by Henry Kendall (1839-1882), merino wool, hand stitched with embroidery cotton and sculpted with wire.
Judge's comments - "reflects theme, feathers exceptional."



Hand felted original item including recycled materials - First Prize, using merino wool and hand crocheted doilies by Gerritje Mertens.
Judge's comments - "good attachment of recycled items and use of colour."

Prizes in these three classes led to the award of 2011 Champion in the Professional Section for the second year in a row.
